High profile or low profile bodyguard?

For those who are not familiar with our profession, their vision of a bodyguard tends to be a bit cliché: The big muscular 6’7 tall “gorilla” without any brain that has for only function: Scaring a potential attacker away!
For others, the bodyguard will be used as an accessory. Walking around with a “big guy” on their side would be a way to show off their wealth; This is what we call the ‘High Profile’ bodyguard.

Now, what is a low profile close protection officer? It is a person who is able to blend in a group without having any eyes riveted on him or on the person he is responsible for. The low profile close protection officer is like a shadow, he protects his client and because he is more discreet it is easier for him to detect any potential threat.

Picture this: a person has been threatened, so he decides to hire a professional bodyguard.

If you are in the position of the attacker and had only intended/planned to kill one person, would you mind to kill two?I don’t think so! So who would you kill first? The killer would most likely start with the “obstacle” which is the bodyguard!
So to make it short, if the person you have to kill has a high profile bodyguard, the protector has more chance to being killed first giving to the attacker all chances to kill its real target.

With another senario, if the attacker can’t see the bodyguard because he blends in with his clients, it will be more difficult for this person to kill/attack the target as, and we speak in each case of experienced professionals, the low profile close protection officer will certainly have detected the suspicious behavior of the aggressor and will take the necessary steps to protect his client.

But they have to keep in mind that only real professionals make the difference!
